Artist: Monty Python Title: Matching Tie And Handkerchief Date: 1973 Label: Arista Records AB 4039 Art Direction: Nancy Greenberg Cover Art: Michael Doret Inner Sleeve: Terry Gilliam
Notes: The Pythons gather together and put their silliness down upon vinyl for all to enjoy, but wait, there's more! This particular slab of wax contains two sets of grooves on the flip side. Depending where the needle chances to rest you may hear one of two different sets of routines. A very novel concept at the time. Many people were not aware of it until they played the recotd one day and heard new tracks from the same old record. Magic? Alas, no. But, still clever. Classic bits that live on in perpetuity. The die-cut cover gives us a peek into the inner sleeve. An all-together pleasant package for one and all.
Line Up: The record was written and performed by Monty Python - An extreme Righto-Leftist group dedicated to good food and plenty of holidays, who are thought to include Terry Jones, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Michael Palin and Gilliam again. The fiercely erotic Carol Cleveland played the ladies parts. The music was by Neil innes. Costumes were by Hazel Pethig. Mrs. Jacquemin provided the food.
