| Artist: Rachel Sweet Title: Protect The Innocent Date: 1980 Label: Stiff Records SEEZ 18 Photography By: Brian Griffin
Notes: Initially promoted as "new wave country" this record leans more toward the punk end of the dial. The Stiff A&R folks seem to have lined up cuts from the Damned, Graham Parker and Lou Reed among others to mingle with her original tunes. Strong of voice and diminutive of stature she works her way through the material in fine fashion. Although a teen sensation with her single “Who Does Lisa Like” she takes on material a bit more mature here. Whether she had a hand in it or it was a guided tour through the genre it’s still a fun record to play every so often. Black leather and a sneer greet us on the cover, as it should.
