Artist: Isao Tomita Title: The Bermuda Triangle Date: 1979 Label: RCA Red Seal ARL1-2885 Art Direction: J.J. Stelmach Cover Illustration: Don Punchatz
Notes: Recorded using a Roland Model MC-8 computer Tomita brings us sonic science fiction this time around. According to the liner notes the album was recorded onto five tracks. Ideally their should be the typical rectangle arrangement of the first four speakes with an additional speaked suspended over the center to create a "sonic pyramid". Lofty concepts indeed, but through my standard two channel stereo amp this record sounds just fine. the cover art is fantastic in nature and the LP is pressed on colored vinyl as an added treat. And the cover also has this message for us from the man himself, "Each side of this record contains coded data in the form of certain sound effects. The message can be recovered if the electrical signal from the record is interfaced with the input of a micro computer programmed to the TARBEL System". There you have it, now I wonder if anyone has actually processed this message?
