Notes: Whether singing one of their original tunes or something by Sonny, Bob Dylan, Carole King or even Warren Zevon (surprise, surprise) the boys had the golden touch for harmonies and big, lush arrangements. Maybe it was just the studio echo/reverb or the mix, but whatever it was it sounds just as good today as it did then. We've all heard "Happy Together" enough times for it to be instantly recognizable; I've even got a copy sung by Mel "Velvet Fog" Torme himself. I've never seen White Whale Records before, but between the slightly psychedelic/art deco front cover and the pose with Charlie on the back, it's a pretty good album. Of course the boys went on to play with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and then appeared as Flo and Eddie. And I'm sure there's more to come.
