Notes: With
a track list running from Sugar to the Incredible String Band we're
in for a wild ride. Elvis Costello rings in with two tunes, Nick
Drake is sitting next to Songhai and the Undertones bring their
Irish punk-pop to the table and so forth. Just take a gander at
the back cover. But the real treat here is the cover art by Daniel
Clowes. For those not familiar, Mr. Clowes has been producing fine
comic art (Lloyd Llewellyn, Eightball) for the hip crowd for years.
From cocktail cool to disturbingly disorienting his work is instantly
recognizable. This is a promo disc, but ya never know when you
might run across it in the used bin. And stop by your local comical
shop and pick up a few back issues of Dan's books. You can stop
