| Artist: Weather Report Title: I Sing the Body Electric Date: 1972 Label: Columbia Records PC 31352 Cover Design: Ed Lee Cover Art: Jack Trompetter
Notes: As a fan of science fiction while growing up I had to buy this record as soon as it came out. The music was probably my first taste of what I would come to know as space jazz. A very tight band blazing away at speeds not seen before and there was no electric guitar to guide it. How could this be? This led to the seeking out of other styles of music, jazz in particular and led me to the Mahavishnu Orchestra, but that's another page of the story. I'm sure this has been released on CD and anyone with a taste for any style of jazz, smooth, contemporary, traditional etc. can find something to like here. The front cover still grabs the old eye upon first glance.
Line Up: Josef Zawinul: electric & acoustic keyboard Wayne Shorter: reeds Miroslav Vitous: bass Eric Gravatt: drums Dom Um Romao: percussion |
