Behold the Flaming Carrot

		This is the one that started it all. Vol. 1 No. 1 published in May of 1984 by Aardvark-Vanaheim (some of you may be familiar with A-V thru Cerebus or Puma Blues). It consists of the 32 page story "Road Hogs from Outer Space". The carrot mask, the swim fins and the flames say it all...he's not quite right is he? Just be glad he's on our side. 		Number 2 came along in July of 1984. The story this time is "Death Gets Drunk". The carrot casts aside the chess game of death and challenges Death himself to a game of Whiffleball. Our hero begins to make his mark on the evil that stalks the night with his Super Pogo. Just one in a long line of crime fighting aids. Story and art by Bob Burden / lettering by Roxanne Starr.
		Rolling right along, in September 1984 number 3 was released. "Flaming Carrot and His World" proclaims the splash page, and we are not misled. A five page introduction to our hero and some of his quirks. This is followed by "Meets the Artless Dodger!". And as always story and art by Bob Burden / lettering by Roxanne Starr.
		November 1984 produced "Just Last Night...Across the City!" This story picks a few days after the conclusion of issue #1. The tales told in issues #2 and #3 well predated the "Road Hogs..." story line. Story and art by Bob Burden / lettering by Roxanne Starr.
		January 1985, the bi-monthly schedule is still on track and Bob weighs in with "...Unto His Own Parade". This issue also brings us the textual "Dr. Heller's Speech" and the 5 page "Dreams of the Taco Fiend". Originally planned as a backup story for Cerebus it was shelved until now. 		"...Riding for a Fall" comes along in March 1984. The Flaming Carrot runs into Death and they go on a bender together. Eventually they end up in Moe's Cavern and proceed to wow the ladies and upset the gents. The man from Palookaville rides again. And as always story and art by Bob Burden / lettering by Roxanne Starr.

		"Bob Burden Tells All" screams the cover of issue six of Greed magazine (Winter 1988). This issue contained an eight page interview with Bob Burden. There's also a two page Milk & Cheese strip.
		Comics Interview , No. 40 (1986) gives us a cover and a 16 page spread featuring the interview and a group of pictures and drawings. This rolls over into the next issue (which I still can't find, anybody have any leads?)
		Amazing Heroes Preview Special, No. 5, (Summer 1987) has FC and Gumby being chased by, well it's over there on the left, you decide. Cover by Arthur Adams.
		The Exploits of the Junior Carrot Patrol", No. 1 (May 1989). I was knocked out when I saw this. Rick Geary is one of my all time favorites and to see him doing a FC related book, whoa. Originally planned as a collaborative effort, Rick did it all himself. Cheeky bloke.
		The Exploits of the Junior Carrot Patrol", No. 2 (November 1990). These are in Bob's word's "grand stories" and are his version of "Leave it to Beaver" done by David Lynch. The art, as ever, is uniquely Geary.
		Flaming Carrot Stories, no. 1 (Winter 1994). More of Bob's VERSION-A format. More words, less pictures. But this can be a good thing in Bob's capable hands. Great storytelling from start to finish.
		Negative Burn Issue Fourteen (1994). The Carrot graces the front cover and the innards give us the "Mystery of the Flying Fish", a one page illustration with a one page textual story.
